Floyd Edward Shoemaker    August 21, 1928 - December 31, 2006  
Uncle Floyd was my Great Uncle.  He was Dad's (Ted LaVan Shoemaker, Sr.) Uncle.  He was my Grand Dad's (Berlin Holand Shoemaker) brother.  He was the Xth child of James A. Shoemaker & Otie E. (Fleming) Shoemaker.  The other siblings are Lawrence, Berlin, Ralph, Earl, Carl, Garland, Hettie, & Beatrice.

Floyd E. Shoemaker (Romney)

ROMNEY, W.Va. - Floyd Edward Shoemaker, 78, of Romney, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

He was born Aug. 21, 1928 in Rada, the son of the late James A. and Otie E. (Fleming) Shoemaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Lawrence, Berlin, Ralph, Earl, Carl and Garland; and two sisters, Hettie and Beatrice.

Mr. Shoemaker was retired from the U. S. Air Force having served during the Korean conflict.

He is survived by one son, Eddie James Summerlin and wife, Chris of Romney; one step-son, Michael Summerlin of Dover, Del.; two sisters, Elsie Rinker of Burlington and Irene Rogers of Inwood; and 2 grandchildren, Alyssa and Wyatt Summerlin of Romney.

The funeral service will be held at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home in Romney on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Allen Boyer officiating.

Interment will be at Old Pine Cemetery, Purgitsville, where military rites will be accorded by the combined veteran organizations of Hampshire County.
